So yes, the final result was ugly, but the early part of that game told you something important, Kansas was live then, and there is a strong case it is live again now.

Actually, the setup is a lot more appealing this time around because Kansas gets the home version of the same rivalry spot. That matters. So the idea that Kansas can play a clean, competitive first half in this environment is not some wild leap. It has already been in the script.
